Nicki Slaugh

Junior High Principal

My name is Nicki Slaugh and this is my 21st year in education. During my first ten years I had the opportunity to teach kindergarten, 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade. Next, I was an Instructional Coach for teachers for four years. This is now in my seventh year as a middle school Administrator.

Throughout my journey, my passion has been meeting the needs of all learners, creating a positive school culture, learning about STEM Education, and transforming a school with a traditional focus to a more personalized competency based learning focus. I do not believe in the "one size fits all'' approach.
I have been on our Utah State Office of Education’s Personalized Learning Committee for the past 4 years. I have also previously been on the Utah State Office of Education’s STEM School Committee. I have had the opportunity to be the Chair (president) of the Ogden Weber Chamber of Commerce’s Partner in Education committee for three years with a goal of bridging the gap between local businesses and schools. Providing professional development and training to teachers and/or administrators has been a highlight of my career. Some key conferences that I have had the honor to present at are: The West and East Coast Edgenuity Sales Conference in Scottsdale, AZ on Self Paced Math: Customizing Math Courses to Meet Student Needs, Edgenuity Partnership Conference Scottsdale, AZ Personalize Math in a Blended Learning Environment, UCET: Utah Coalition of Educational Technology Conference Provo, UT multiples times on topics such as Rattling the Cage in the Traditional Classroom and Lead with Passion: Bringing Administration out of the Stone Ages, Utah Association of Public Charter School Conference Layton, UT Personalized Learning in Math, STEM Best Practices Conference Kaysville, UT Personalization Learning in Math, ILEAD Administration Conference Ogden, UT How to integrate technology into your faculty meetings and Brainblast Technology Conference Ogden, UT Using Technology as a Resource.

This January, I will be presenting at the Magellan Summit in Provo, Utah with award winning author Eric Sheninger and in March I will be presenting at UCET. I am hoping to have the opportunity to present at The Model Schools National Conference in Florida in June.

I love my job. I love everything about education. My motto is: Every Student, Every Day, Whatever It Takes! I am honored to be the principal of Quest Jr. We are a team of teachers who are full of passion and always willing to learn! Be the energy you want to attract.
