Collaboration, Critical Thinking and Communication
Students work together in small groups to problem solve, reinforce learning, brainstorm ideas, and engage in 21st century skills such as collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, communication, and digital literacy.
When students work with their peers, they are able to teach each other and solve problems together which leads to a deeper level of mastery. Quest students contribute ideas, perspectives, and experiences to cultivate a community of shared accountability and leadership.
Establishing a Culture of Community
Quest Academy has a culture where students treat each other with kindness, dignity, and respect. Quest educators value students for their individual strengths and provide opportunities for students to develop the necessary skills to become contributing members of society. Our motto is “Every student, every day, whatever it takes.”
Increasing Digital Accessibility and Skill
Quest students show digital literacy as they adapt, create and connect in productive, responsible ways and utilize technology in social, academic, and professional settings. Computer Science instruction begins in 1st grade and continues through 9th grade.
Student technological learning includes computer programming, coding, website design, utilization of the Google Education Suite, and experience in dual platform (Mac and PC).
Fostering Independence and Personalized Learning
Unlike traditional schools who base grading on points, mastery-based learning focuses on the acquisition of skills and knowledge. This allows students to learn at their own pace and at a great depth.
Mastery-based learning gives students multiple opportunities to prove their understanding and skills of state standards. Additionally, mastery-based learning leads to greater retention of knowledge over time.
